Beta readers
Read the whole mountain.
Beta readers receive complete (or near-complete) manuscripts and give feedback on the full reading experience — pacing, character, world-building, emotional impact.
The process
What beta reading actually looks like.
When you join the beta reader pool and a manuscript is ready, you’ll receive an email with the full text and a reading window of six to eight weeks. This window is generous by design — real life happens, and the goal is thoughtful engagement, not a rushed sprint. You read at your own pace and return a structured feedback form by the close date.
The feedback form is built around the core of the reading experience — pacing, character, world-building, and emotional resonance. You’re also invited (never required) to a short debrief call afterwards, to talk through anything the written form couldn’t quite hold.
- 01
Receive the manuscript
You'll receive the full manuscript by email along with the feedback form and your reading window dates.
- 02
Read & annotate
Read at your pace within the six-to-eight week window. Note reactions, questions, and moments that landed hard or fell flat.
- 03
Submit feedback
Complete the structured feedback form by the close date. An optional debrief call is available for any reader who wants to discuss their response.
Feedback scope
What I’m asking you to look at.
- Overall impression and emotional response
- Pacing — where did you speed up or slow down?
- Character clarity and consistency
- World-building — what confused you?
- Plot holes or logic gaps
- What worked best and what fell flat

The Dragon Watch
A letter from the mountain, every Sunday.
Quiet observations, small revelations, and the latest on works in progress. No marketing (except for my books). No “tips.” Just the Dragon Watch.
